Rob McElhenney is set to return to his hometown of Philadelphia on Thursday for the club’s final friendly game ahead of the 2023-24 season. He is best known for his role in the comedy series ‘It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia‘, and was also born and raised in Philly. The game against Philadelphia Union II is not just another fixture on the schedule, but a personal affair for McElhanney. The co-owner of Wrexham AFC had always dreamed of seeing his team play against his hometown.

Wrexham’s US pre-season tour started off with a disappointing defeat against English giants, Chelsea. The Reds lost by a score of 5-0. Although, Wrexham’s performance in the next two fixtures was encouraging for the club as they beat LA Galaxy and Manchester United. They scored seven goals and conceded just one goal in those two games.
Wrexham proved to be a threat, moving in the attacking third by maintaining possession and holding their shape defensively. Ryan Reynolds’s side is hoping to continue their excellent form in the last pre-season fixture against Philadelphia Union II.
