Wrexham will wrap up their pre-season tour of the United States with another friendly. The Welsh side defeated Manchester United in their previous game and hope to repeat the feat in their next game as well. Meanwhile, the upcoming fixture would be a homecoming for one of the club’s co-owner.
The Red Dragons face Philadelphia Union II on 28 July at Subaru Park. This fixture is a special occasion for Rob McElhenney. He took to Twitter to share his emotions on the day before the match.

What did McElhanney have to say before Wrexham take on Philadelphia Union?
Rob McElhenney is set to return to his hometown of Philadelphia on Thursday for the club’s final friendly game ahead of the 2023-24 season. He is best known for his role in the comedy series ‘It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia‘, and was also born and raised in Philly. The game against Philadelphia Union II is not just another fixture on the schedule, but a personal affair for McElhanney. The co-owner of Wrexham AFC had always dreamed of seeing his team play against his hometown.
He said, “A dream comes true for me tomorrow. Thank you, Wrexham AFC, Philadelphia Union, and the entire city of Brotherly Love!!! Wow”. This portrayed how thrilled the American actor is about the game.

The newly promoted League Two side had already received strong support from fans in the United States. The club’s owners are confident that the stadium will also be full for their last match.

Wrexham’s performance in their previous warm-up fixtures
Wrexham’s US pre-season tour started off with a disappointing defeat against English giants, Chelsea. The Reds lost by a score of 5-0. Although, Wrexham’s performance in the next two fixtures was encouraging for the club as they beat LA Galaxy and Manchester United. They scored seven goals and conceded just one goal in those two games.
