Unfortunately, these events transpired in Gelsenkirchen, Germany, before the eagerly awaited Serbia vs. England match.

Fans brawl ahead of UEFA Euro clash

Before the match, violence erupted in Gelsenkirchen, the host city for the event. A disturbing video has emerged showing numerous fans brawling outside a pub. In this footage, individuals can be observed hurling bottles, tables, and chairs at one another. Significant damage was inflicted on the surrounding furniture during the altercation.

The situation escalated and the local law enforcement had to intervene to restore order. Authorities confirmed tensions flared between Serbian and English supporters, necessitating police intervention to disperse the unruly crowd. According to accounts from a Serbian fan present at the scene, both glassware and rocks were used as projectiles during the melee.

Given these incidents, law enforcement officials have designated the match as high-risk. Consequently, only low-alcoholic beers have been made available within the stadium to mitigate further potential conflicts among attendees. While this happened outside the stadium, let’s now look at what happened inside during the match.

England take the cake in a close encounter

Regarding the match, it was indeed a nail-biter. Despite England being the favorites, Serbia did not make the task straightforward. The Serbian defense effectively kept England at bay; however, a collaboration between Bukayo Saka and Jude Bellingham in the 13th minute resulted in the English side opening the scoring.

Subsequently, though, the Three Lions struggled to find the back of the net again. Similarly, Serbia only managed one shot on target and failed to score any goals. Ultimately, England emerged victorious with a 1-0 win. Gareth Southgate’s squad has initiated their UEFA Euro 2024 campaign by securing maximum points available so far.
