“There’s going to be fire today if I speak,” said an infuriated Mohamed Salah following Liverpool’s yet another upsetting result. Just hours ago, the Reds were held in a four-goal thriller against West Ham at the London Stadium. Yet, the highlight of the match remains an alleged altercation between Salah and Jurgen Klopp that led the Egyptian to make such claims. While the exact cause remains elusive, Liverpool legend Steve Nicol has pointed the finger at the German manager, suggesting, “Klopp started this little spat and it can only be because he came up and said something.”

The pundit highlighted the ‘dissension‘ surrounding the former Borussia Dortmund manager that he never imagined to see. “Mo Salah was getting ready to get on the field thinking about what he’d been told to do and what he was going to do and then Klopp goes over and just a little whisper in his ear that led to the fireworks,” added Nicol. The analyst further took a dig at Klopp during the ESPN show by questioning his intentions to say something.

“That goes against every single thing that normally would happen to any team never mind Liverpool. Clearly, Klopp has got a problem right now with Mo Salah,” concluded the ex-midfielder. Notably, the incident had transpired before the 79th minute when Salah was getting ready to get on the pitch. Klopp’s words enraged the winger so much that he started talking back to his manager, with Darwin Nunez and Joe Gomez, who were also preparing to get on the pitch, trying to cool the Egyptian international.

Meanwhile, aside from taking a dig at Klopp, Steve Nicol didn’t cut Salah any slack over his performance for the Reds.

Mohamed Salah has been ‘invisible’ for Liverpool

In a similar segment, Steve Nicol was asked about Mohamed Salah showing his disinterest while warming on the touchline. The Liverpool icon asserted that if the Egyptian’s frustration was due to starting the game from the bench, then questions should be asked by the winger himself. Nicol reminded Salah that the best players are aware of their merits and demerits and should know ‘whether they’ve actually been at it or not.’

The pundit notched up the jibe towards the former Roma man, insisting that the 31-year-old should accept like others why he wasn’t picked. “Nobody, nobody, when they saw this team sheet I don’t believe, turned around and questioned why Mo Salah was not playing; because we all know Mo Salah has been invisible for the last four or five weeks,” concluded Nicol. It seems not just Jurgen Klopp, but even Mo Salah is also at fault.
