Matthew McConaughey is America’s most renowned figure and is among the best actors in Hollywood. He has played in several superhit movies, including the most famous, Dazed and Confused, and Interstellar.

Besides being an actor, McConaughey also loves soccer, and he decided to follow his passions simultaneously. The 53-year-old Hollywood superstar has been a co-owner of an MLS soccer club, Austin FC, since 2019.

A brilliant milestone for Matthew McConaughey

Austin FC was founded in 2018 and made its debut in 2021, since then, the club has been performing decently. They will be looking to accomplish major success this year.

In fact, The Oaks has already achieved a huge milestone after kicking off the new season of MLS. During their clash against CF Montréal, the club recorded an attendance of 20,738. This marked their 38th consecutive home sellout, thus extending the league’s longest active streak.

It is indeed a huge milestone for the club, as they have become fan favorites. Moreover, the win against Montréal was the icing on the cake. Josh Wolff’s side won the match by a single goal on March 5. Super-sub Maximiliano Urruti scored in the 88th minute, thus helping his side win the opening game of the season.

Austin FC set for a debut in a major competition

This isn’t the end of good for Austin FC, as McConaughey’s side will be playing its first-ever CONCACAF Champions League game. The MLS side will lock horns against Haitian side Violette AC today.

While many are new to the tournament, some have already experienced the world of it, including Josh Wolff. The gaffer has high expectations ahead of an exciting clash.

“The competition and the league have grown tremendously,” said Wolff. “It’s a grind and a dogfight wherever we go, and you can’t take anything for granted.”

The coach will be eyeing yet another victory as the Haitian side will be hosting the American side for the first time. “We’re proud of getting into the Champions League, and we’re ready to grow with the experience,” said the 46-year-old. “We need that in our young existence.”
