16-time World Champion John Cena is seldom in the ring these days. At 47, the leader of the Cenation is pursuing other interests while making sporadic WWE appearances like the recent Wrestlemania. Amusingly, one of his newfound interests seems to be soccer; a phone call with Erling Haaland regarding Manchester City’s pre-season plans. Now, Cena’s activity on social media has left the entire Wrexham fanbase stunned and puzzled in equal measure.

X (formerly Twitter) account Wrexham AFC Brasil has uploaded a screenshot that is doing the rounds. The image is a notification that says John Cena has followed the account. It is quite yet unknown of the links between the WWE star and the Red Dragons. But, one thing is crystal clear. The WWE star follows the Welsh club keenly as seen by his cryptic post last year of a celebrating Ryan Reynolds. Cena’s association with Manchester City and Wrexham is puzzling, considering they are not his favorite soccer clubs. That honor belongs to Premier League side Chelsea.

Wrexham’s mammoth US fame continues to grow

The Hollywood takeover and Wrexham’s consecutive promotions became a huge story in the United States. The Red Dragons attracted so much attention that there were claims they were as big as the MLS! While many vehemently disagreed, their US tour of 2023 revealed the true story.

Last year’s preseason saw the Red Dragons take on Chelsea in North Carolina. The game was an instant sellout despite the high ticket prices. The high demand caused the ticket prices for Wrexham’s game against Manchester United to be the same as El Clasico! These matches proved that Ryan Renolds’ side enjoys considerable fanfare in the United States. And now, having one of the biggest celebrities on the planet follow them, reaffirms it.
