It looks like more than fifteen parties are interested. Among them is also Ryan Reynolds who believes he can help the Senators reach new heights. These claims have been evident with Ryan Reynolds’ Wrexham AFC which has seen a surge in success since the Deadpool star along with Rob McElhenney became owners of the team in 2020.
Ryan Reynolds plans for Ottawa Senators
According to sources close to Reynolds, he plans to tell the story of the franchise and show it via a reality TV series. This is similar to the Approach Reynolds took when he made ‘Welcome to Wrexham’ showing the journey and the story of the acting duo running the soccer club.
The series was a big success and helped Wrexham gain mass attention and increased its popularity. Reynolds is looking to do the same if he ends up owning the Senators. If Reynolds is successful at his endeavor of owning the team, it could be a huge boost for the franchise.
As Ryan Reynolds sets his sights on buying the Ottawa Senators, it’s clear that he’s not backing down. Though his intentions are certainly pure, buying the team outright for its $800 million asking price is a bit of a stretch. Reynolds will likely have to be part of a larger consortium of investors in order to make the purchase.
Reynolds wants to be “A Frothy, Rabies-Infused Fan”
When discussing his intentions back in December, Reynolds made a hilarious statement about what kind of fan he would be if the purchase went through. “If we progress with the Ottawa Senators I will be a frothy, rabies-infused fan the likes of which the NHL has never seen... There’s not too much I can say about that now… But I have a real connection to Ottawa, to the community of Ottawa,” he said.
