Fate wrote Manchester City’s journey in the UEFA Champions League till the quarter-finals. Last night, Pep Guardiola and Co.’s quest for glory came to an abrupt end after enduring a premature exit from the prestigious competition at the hands of Real Madrid, losing on penalties in the return leg. As ardent Madridstas are buzzing with their side’s progression to the next stage, joining the celebrations with them is none other than Usain Blot, who became a Los Blancos fan thanks to their former icon Cristiano Ronaldo.
The legendary sprinter shared a story on Instagram where he was witnessed reveling in the Spanish side’s remarkable victory. Bolt posted a small clip of Antonio Rudiger’s match-winning penalty and was heard shouting ‘Hala Madrid’. Interestingly, he was watching the match alongside former Jamaican soccer star Ricardo “Bibi” Gardner, who was also supporting the La Liga giants.
However, on the losing party were a few of Bolt’s acquaintances, one of them with the username, @che_gd, who was reeling over Manchester City’s loss. The clip showed Gardner and the former Olympian teasing Bolt’s girlfriend, Kasi Bennett, who, unlike her boyfriend, was supporting the Premier League side, by chanting ‘Hala Madrid.’ Of course, such celebrations were required, considering the intensity of the match.

Real Madrid took the lead thanks to Rodrygo’s 12th-minute strike. Even though City failed to capitalize on their golden chances throughout the game, Kevin De Bruyne finally broke the deadlock in the 74th minute. Neither side could find a winner, with the match ending on a 4-4 aggregate, having played a 3-3 draw in Leg 1, and headed to penalties, which City lost 3-4.
Nevertheless, it seems Bolt enjoyed Madrid’s victory. Carlo Ancelotti and Co. should be thankful to Ronaldo for inspiring the sprinter to fall in love with the Spanish side.
How Cristiano Ronaldo made Usain Bolt a Real Madrid fan
A few years ago during his time in Rio, Brazil, Usain Bolt was asked to choose any one team between Real Madrid and Barcelona. Speaking with Cadena COPE, the iconic sprinter unequivocally responded, “Real Madrid (is my team), of course.” Interestingly, Bolt then revealed the reason behind his reason to support the White side. “I like them because of Cristiano Ronaldo,” he added. Notably, Bolt maintains a great friendship with CR7.

The speedster even visited the Santiago Bernabeu stadium to watch Real Madrid play live. Ironically, Bolt once admitted to harboring a ‘dream’ to play for Manchester United during his pursuit of a soccer career. However, he later acknowledged that he wasn’t particularly keen on playing under Dutchman and then-former manager, Louis van Gaal, stating, “I supported Manchester United for years, I would still love to play for them, but if Louis Van Gaal is the coach, not so much.”
While his dream of becoming a professional soccer player was shattered after failing to convince any club to offer him a contract, it seems he is enjoying his days as a Real Madrid fan.
