Since USWNT’s World Cup elimination, quite a few big names have criticized Megan Rapinoe. Over the years, she has always stood for what she believes in. That has caused quite a few controversies. Missing a crucial penalty at the World Cup hasn’t helped her image at all. Recently, MMA veteran Jorge Masvidal had a few words for her over the National Anthem controversy. He didn’t hold back while tearing into her and calling her ‘crazy’.

Some days ago, former POTUS Donald Trump taunted Rapinoe too. Currently, the soccer legend is seemingly staying lowkey on social media as she hasn’t responded to any of the criticism apart from her statement to the fans.

As of today, every single person is talking about Megan Rapinoe. Without a doubt, she’s always been in and out of controversies. Due to her certain opinions and stances, she’s garnered a lot of public uproar and hate. After she missed the penalty kick at the World Cup, everyone came raining down on her with criticism. Her controversial statements, like never singing the National Anthem again, have come back to light.

In context to that, Masvidal addressed Rapinoe, “I think you need help and I don’t mean that in a bad way. Maybe just to hear the other side of the coin because America is the greatest experiment ever. For you to hate on this thing that has brought freedom and economic wealth to the whole world, it’s just crazy. And I dare to move to any one of these countries that she’s talking about and send us a postcard”.

“She won’t because this is the greatest country on Earth and she just won’t admit it”. The MMA veteran also briefly spoke about her views on ‘transgender athlete inclusion’. He stated that Rapinoe was someone who probably ‘didn’t understand’ how science works or ‘doesn’t care’ for women athletes to have records in sports. He concluded by saying that it’s just ‘not fair’.

The former President of the US described the USWNT’s loss as ‘shocking’ and ‘totally unexpected’. Trump criticized everyone, including Rapinoe. He said, “Nice shot Megan, the USA is going to Hell!!! MAGA”. A few days later, the soccer veteran released a heartfelt statement on social media for her fans. She assured the fanbase that the USWNT was in ‘special hands’ as she walked away.

In that statement, she seemingly also addressed Trump’s comments indirectly. However, she refrained from taking his name at any point. She ended her emotional note by saying that it was ‘an honor’ to represent her country. Since then, she’s gone lowkey on social media amidst the fan’s public uproar. A three-peat could have been the perfect end to her career, but it just wasn’t meant to be, was it?
