Yesterday cast a somber shadow over the world of sports. Professional boxer and MMA fighter Francis Ngannou shared the heartbreaking loss of his 15-month-old son. While the Cameroonian-French star continues to battle one of the most devastating episodes of his life, an outpouring of condolences and support emerged from the sporting community, especially from the beautiful game. A few revered names including one of Lionel Messi‘s teammates came to show their solidarity.
“Too soon to leave but yet he’s gone,” Ngannou wrote over a black and white photo with his son, alongside his son’s birth date and death date on Instagram. “My little boy, my mate, my partner Kobe was full of life and joy. Now, he’s laying without life. I shouted his name over and over but he’s not responding.” Talking about how ‘unfair‘ life is, the 37-year-old revealed he lost his identity. Ngannou further asked for help to deal with such pain.
“How can you live with it? Please help me if you have an idea because I really don’t know what to do and how to deal with this,” he wrote. And, not just fans, many big names came to send their condolences. Speaking for the soccer world, Messi’s Argentinian teammate Emiliano Martinez commented, “🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽❤️❤️❤️.” The Aston Villa man was joined by his 2022 World Cup final rival Aurelien Tchouameni, as the Frenchman wrote, “Sois fort mon frère ❤️,” which translates to “Be strong my brother.”

Surprisingly, the Portuguese superstar didn’t even like the post. Perhaps the Al Nassr star, who has often been seen spending quality time with Ngannou, may have personally conveyed his condolences upon hearing the news. In fact, CR7 had even met the MMA star’s infant son and daughter. This is undeniably a challenging period for the Cameroonian, and his distress is evident. Let’s wish that the former UFC heavyweight champion and his family discover the resilience to navigate through this difficult time.
