It is not every day that someone like Lamine Yamal shows up and ends up captivating the global stage. At just 17 years old, he has led Spain to secure their fourth European Championship, receiving accolades from across the globe. Notably, UFC star Conor McGregor, who is typically difficult to impress, appears to be among his admirers.

McGregor evidently followed the Euros closely and supported both Spain and Yamal. In addition to his enthusiastic support, the former UFC Lightweight Champion reportedly made significant financial gains during this period.

Recently, Conor McGregor made a public appearance in Marbella, where he talked about his Bare Knuckle promotion. During this event, he was questioned about his thoughts on the recently concluded UEFA Euro. “I love the Euro Cup, I love the Euro Cup,” the 36-year-old stated enthusiastically. “You know, I supported Spain. Incredible.”

The ex-UFC Featherweight champion expressed profound admiration for Spain’s performance in the tournament. He added, “It’s like they only play with the rival. When a team scored against them, and they said, wait, and then boom. Two goals in two minutes. Seven of seven. It was absolutely incredible.” He further disclosed that he had placed a $90K bet on Spain before the tournament commenced and ultimately won over a million dollars as Spain secured victory.

Conor McGregor also took time to commend young star Lamine Yamal. “The young boy, the 16-year-old, I think is in the hands of God,” praised Mystic Mac. “They crushed everyone and they won.” The future certainly seems boundless for the Barcelona star. While McGregor is undoubtedly pleased with his significant winnings thanks to Spain’s triumph in the Euro Cup, it should be noted that he has also experienced some losses alongside these gains.

Conor McGregor’s bet on Cristiano Ronaldo ended up in a loss

Conor McGregor and Cristiano Ronaldo, renowned figures in their respective sports, have always shared mutual admiration. ‘The Notorious’ has frequently expressed his support for CR7, and Euro 2024 was no exception. Prior to Portugal’s inaugural match in the tournament, McGregor announced via Instagram that he had placed a $60,000 bet on the Al Nassr striker securing the Golden Boot at the Euros.

He punctuated this announcement with Ronaldo’s iconic celebratory phrase ‘Siuuu‘. However, for both stars, the tournament did not unfold as anticipated. Portugal was eliminated by France in the quarter-finals. Remarkably, Cristiano Ronaldo concluded the tournament without scoring any goals – his first time experiencing such an outcome in an international competition.

Ultimately, it was Harry Kane, Dani Olmo, Georges Mikautadze, Cody Gakpo, Ivan Schranz, and Jamal Musiala who each claimed a share of the Golden Boot honors with three goals apiece. Considering that Conor McGregor previously amassed significant profits thanks to Lamine Yamal’s performance which mitigates this $60k setback will likely have little financial impact on him.
