Excitement was plenty following Novak Djokovic’s social media update. Djokovic, along with fellow tennis ace Rafael Nadal, were heading to the USA. There was speculation that the Serbian ace might be in attendance to catch Inter Miami in action. After all, he is a huge admirer of the ‘phenomenon’ called Lionel Messi. And it seems Djokovic is in attendance to watch the Herons in action.
A video on X (formerly known as Twitter) has surfaced showing the tennis superstar near the pitch side. Djokovic is seen interacting with another person. However, Messi might not be the sole motivation behind Djokovic’s arrival in the country. The 36-year-old is competing in the Sunshine Double, which consists of the Indian Wells & the Miami Open. Winning the Sunshine Double is a prestigious and rare achievement, with only 7 men accomplishing the task in history!

The qualification rounds for the Indian Wells Open will start on March 4th, while the Miami Open is scheduled from March 17–31. With 4 Sunshine Doubles under his belt, nobody has won more than Novak Djokovic. And it seems the Serbian ace will be looking to add to his tally this year. Interestingly, fellow tennis star Rafael Nadal is yet to win one.
Lionel Messi has always been a good luck charm for the tennis ace. After all, following his previous meeting with the Inter Miami captain, the tennis icon had a lot of success on the pitch.

August 2023, barely months after Messi arrived in the USA. Novak Djokovic was in the country for the US Open. And this resulted in his second encounter with the soccer icon. Speaking of the same, the tennis ace said, “It’s a second time we met with each other. We talked 15 minutes about everything. I would like to meet him & talk about everything again. Messi is a phenomenon. He’s a huge champion. I have a huge respect for him.”
Moreover, the 36-year-old also posted on Instagram a picture with the 8-time Ballon d’Or winner. Djokovic gave the caption, “Crack! Great pleasure to see you and talk to you. As always, I wish good luck and health to you and your family.” Interestingly, during Djokovic’s first meeting with Messi, there was another soccer superstar alongside, Neymar Jr. Furthermore, the Brazilian also signed a jersey for Djokivic’s daughter Tara on the occasion.
