However, Messi did have a few controversial moments during the World Cup. One such moment was after Argentina beat the Netherlands. A day back, Novak Djokovic recreated that same funny moment with another tennis star.
What was this funny moment involving Lionel Messi?
Argentina’s match against the Netherlands went down to the wire. Argentina snatched the game after being the more clinical side during the penalty shootout. After the game, while Lionel Messi gave an interview, Wout Weghorst caught the Argentine’s attention. Both the soccer stars then stared at each other for a few seconds.
I will never ever get tired of sharing this.

Without breaking eye contact, Lionel Messi angrily says, “Que miras, bobo? Que miras, bobo? Anda para alla, bobo”. This translates to, “What are you looking at, fool? Go away”. The clip immediately went viral on every social media platform. It was a truly rare sight for any soccer fan to watch Messi lose his cool. However, the matter died down after a few days.

However, tennis superstar, Novak Djokovic recently recreated that moment in the gym. The tennis legend shot the video along with co-tennis star, Diego Schwartzman. Djokovic decides to take on Messi’s role in the video. He maintained a very similar script. He told Schwartzman, “What are you looking at fool? Walk Away. Walk Away”.
However, Diego Schwartzman failed to maintain character. The Argentine tennis star burst out laughing as he walked past Djokovic. This video has viral on social media and the fans cannot stop watching it.
What sparked the moment between Messi and Weghorst?
On a different day, the Argentines could have lost against the Netherlands, The Argentines were in cruise control right until a major turnover of events. Dutch striker, Wout Weghorst came on in the 78 minute. It was the Netherlands’ last throw of dice. However, the plan worked. Weghorst scored two brilliant goals before the final whistle to level the game at 2-2.
