The 122-year-old fabled history of Real Madrid has seen many a legend. However, as described by Sergio Ramos as the “most important player in the history of Real Madrid“, Cristiano Ronaldo, enjoys a unique place in Los Blancos’ folklore. On the club’s 122nd anniversary, the 5x Ballon d’Or winner paid tribute to the Spanish giants in a trademark CR7 way. This appears to have caught the eye of tennis sensation Carlos Alcaraz and other Real Madrid stars.
Cristiano Ronaldo uploaded a picture on his official social handle of his final match with Los Blancos. This was the UCL final against Liverpool in 2018, and CR7 can be seen holding the trophy with the No. 5 displayed on his hand. In the caption, he wrote, “Congratulations for these 122 years of history, Madridista family! Hala Madrid.” This was well appreciated by the supporters of the 14-time UCL winners. Notably, Real Madrid fan and 2x Grand Slam winner Carlos Alcaraz commented, “Not a tear, something got in my eye”, as translated by Google.
This was followed by comments from Real Madrid’s attacking duo of Vinicius Jr. and Rodrygo. Vinicius replied with a picture of a ‘goat’ and followed it up with ‘siiiii‘. Fellow attacker Rodrygo also went for a similar message and commented ‘SIIIII‘ with a fire emoji. Both of them had previously idolized Cristiano Ronaldo, and it seems they are paying tribute to CR7’s iconic ‘Siuu‘ celebration.

Other stars who liked the post include CR7’s old mates namely Luka Modric, Toni Kroos, and Lucas Vasquez, as well as new signings like Jude Bellingham, Fran Garcia, and Joselu. Having secured qualification into the UCL quarters, there is plenty to celebrate at Real Madrid. However, at Al Nassr, the reality is different and Cristiano Ronaldo is set to have the most challenging week of his season yet.

Next up in the league for Al Nassr is Al Raed. The 15th-seeded side in Saudi Arabia wouldn’t pose much threat to Cristiano Ronaldo & Co. on paper. However, the Knights of Najd haven’t been in the best of form. Their last league game against Al Hazm was a 4-4 draw. Notably, this was the game where CR7 didn’t feature because of a suspension.

The draw means Al Nassr finds themselves 9 points behind leaders Al Hilal. Any result other than a win will make it even harder for the Knights of Najd to win the league. The story is similar in the AFC Champions League as well. Al Nassr lost to Al Ain in the 1st QF leg and is on the verge of getting knocked out. Hence, this is the make-or-break week for Luis Castro’s side. As he has done throughout his career, the onus will be on Cristiano Ronaldo to lead from the front.
