After retiring from tennis, Serena Williams continues to make headlines for many reasons. One of the apparent reasons for this is her latest soccer venture. Earlier, the former WTA star and her husband, Alexis Ohanian, invested in the National Women’s Soccer League team, Angel City FC. Since then, the star couple has achieved ground-breaking success.

While their investment in the soccer club is getting them praise worldwide, the team isn’t getting any of that. In fact, their recent poor NWSL form has forced them to fire their head coach.

Williams’ Angel City recently announced the sacking of their head coach, Freya Coombe. The ACFC parted ways with their manager just halfway through the season as they endured a poor start to the season. They are currently at the bottom of the league with just nine points and have had a winless streak in the last six games.

The Los Angeles-based club announced the decision on the club’s official website. “We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Freya. As a community and team, we sincerely wish her all the best for the future.” They also announced that assistant coach Becki Tweed will serve as interim head coach.

Indeed, it is a bold step taken from William’s side, who looks to finish the season on a high note. Coombe was their first manager when the club was launched. Now they’ll be looking to find a replacement ASAP. Both Williams and Ohanian will be looking to turn things around for their $100 million investment. Meanwhile, taking about the couple’s other ventures, they also invested in a Tiger Woods golf venture.

Serena Williams and Alexis Ohanian invest in Tiger Woods’ Golf Venture

Serena Williams has partnered with golf legends Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy in a tech-focused golf league venture called TGL, launched by TMRW Sports. The bidding for team ownership in the league was based on geographical affiliation, and Serena and her husband Alexis Ohanian chose the Los Angeles Golf Club as their team.
