The OL Reign star decided to hail the youngster’s feat by sharing the post on her story. The soccer star was definitely impressed.

Rapinoe, known for her advocacy for women’s rights and empowerment, was thrilled to hear about the achievements of this young female star. Her achievement was reminiscent of a 23-year-old record set by another remarkable woman in tennis – Serena Williams.

Coco Gauff evokes Serena Williams’ 23-year-old record

Gauff’s journey to the quarterfinals also saw her match the record of former tennis legend Serena Williams. Williams was the only American to reach the quarterfinals of the US Open back in 1999 when she won the French Open and US Open. However, the following year, in 2000, she was defeated by fellow American tennis icon Lindsay Davenport.

Now, it’s Gauff who has cemented her name alongside Williams with her prestigious feat. Gauff also played in the finals of 2022’s French Open. Although last year’s US campaign ended in the quarterfinals with a loss to France’s Caroline Garcia, her best results came this year with semi-final appearances at the US Open and the Australian Open. Indeed, Gauff’s achievements are nothing short of remarkable.
