With each passing day, fans are coming closer and closer to witnessing the finalization of the sale of the NHL’s Ottawa Senators. So far, big names like Ryan Reynolds and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, along with multiple billionaires, have been linked with the sale. However, fans are rooting the most for the owner of Wrexham AFC.

Standing at a couple of years from Reynolds’ Wrexham takeover, fans now know what kind of boost the fame of the Deadpool actor carries. The way Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney have boosted the popularity of the Welsh club has given some promising views to NHL fans.

However, these hopes might get crushed under the mammoth of a bid that came from across the border. According to various reports, NHL has received a bid of over 900 million USD. They reported it to be from the Sparks group which has Dwayne Johnson and is backed by American Billionaire Neko Sparks.

NHL fans might not get the love story

Bruce Deachman from Ottawa Citizen has explained it in the most poetic way possible. Senators’ fans are waiting for a love story that might never become a reality for them. The Remington group has a target of around 925 million USD. This, according to the author, might seal the fate of the possibility of Reynolds owning an NHL team.

Deachman wrote, “I don’t mean to pour cold water on the love affair. Having Reynolds as part of the team’s future could be such a positive driver. Just ask the folks in Wrexham. I’m just saying we should be ready with two towels as we watch the change of ownership unfold: one to wave and cheer him on, and one to cry into if his bid fails.

Nothing is said in Stones yet and there are no confirmations about who the 900 million USD bid is from. This dream, however, might end up being just that. Despite getting open support from the league commissioner, Ryan Reynolds might end up with just one sports team.

A successful reign of Wrexham

It is fine to term the reign Ryan Reynolds has had with Wrexham, a success. The club has got 400% more turnover this year from last season and is eying promotion this year. The team is arguably more famous and well-known than a few tier-2 teams, despite playing in the fifth tier.
