In recent times, quite a few NFL and NBA stars have been investing in different sports teams. In America, soccer is growing at an unbelievable pace. As many cross-sports stars invest in soccer, it is gaining more viewership from other sports fan bases. Recently, Tom Brady surprised the sports universe after he acquired an ownership stake in a WNBA team.

Following a similar pattern, another popular NFL star invested in another sport, but this time, it was soccer. With the NWSL season just hours away, Serena Williams and Alexis Ohanian have managed to get a new and special investor on board for Angel City FC.

Just hours ago, Angel City FC made a special announcement. The LA-based soccer club welcomed Matthew Stafford on board. The NFL star is currently at LA Rams and was part of the squad that knocked Tom Brady out of the NFL, a few months ago. Angel City FC already has a star-studded ownership group.

 

Renowned stars and sports legends like Serena Williams, Natalie Portman, Jennifer Garner, and many more names are already part of the ownership group.

This was surely a surprise inclusion for the fans. With everyone’s focus on the upcoming NWSL season, Angel City FC managed to add another big name to their board.

In an official statement with the soccer club, Stafford said, “We fell in love with attending an Angel City game last season and wanted our daughters to experience something so important and powerful first-hand”.

He continued, “We have such great respect for the athletes on the field who are playing at the highest level and feel lucky to be able to support such an amazing team in a city that we love so much.”

Keeping Stafford’s fantastic investment in the soccer universe aside, the fans still remember him for his last-minute heroics against Tom Brady in 2022.

The time when Stafford sent Tom Brady home!

Earlier in 2022, it is safe to say that LA Rams’ quarterback, Matthew Stafford, sent Tom Brady and his team home from the NFL playoffs. The quarterback shockingly outplayed the NFL legend. That moved the Rams into a prime position for a last-second field goal. The Rams ended up edging a 30-27 victory against Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the end.

It was simply a moment of brilliance from Matthew Stafford. After that, Tom Brady played another whole season in the NFL and then moved on from the sport. He recently acquired an ownership stake at Las Vegas Aces, a WNBA club. Following the NFL legend’s footsteps, even Stafford decided to invest some of his money back into the sports universe. While Tom Brady went for a WNBA team, Stafford rightfully turned his attention toward soccer in America.
