American Football fans saw two elite athletes, JJ Watt, and Tom Brady, retiring recently. But what if there’s a possibility of two facing off against each other? Sounds exciting? Just imagine one of the best quarterbacks taking on one of the best defensive ends again. But the twist is on the soccer field.
Yes, you heard it right. It is a massive possibility that the two former NFL icons can face off but in a different capacity. JJ Watt ventured into soccer a few months back. Watt and his wife purchased minority stakes in the English soccer club Burnley, which won the second division to get a promotion to the Premier League.
Recently, the former Houston Texans superstar followed in the footsteps of former New England Patriots footsteps by venturing into broadcasting. Now it was the turn of Brady to follow in Watt’s footsteps. Patriots legend announced his investment into another English soccer club Birmingham City. Brady will partner with Knighthead Capital Management LLC as a minority owner and will be the chairman of the new advisory board. And his new investment can see the two former NFL stars compete against each other.

The FA divides the FA Cup into two stages: qualifying rounds and proper rounds. And it is in the latter stage that Burnley could face Birmingham. The clubs from the top and second divisions enter the FA Cup draws from round three. All the draws for the proper stage of competition take place randomly. That’s where there’s a captivating possibility that American Football fans can witness the rivalry between Watt and Brady ignited again.
However, the fans will have to wait until January 6, 2024, when the third-round draws will take place. If that happens, it will be a moment when the world can see American Football and soccer fans cheering together for the same game. And this time, Watt’s side will have a slight advantage if that happens. However, no one can predict the result if the captivating tie happens. If it doesn’t happen in the third round, there’s a chance in the next rounds if clubs keep winning.
