The US soccer team is out of the World Cup after crashing out of the Round of 16. USA’s participation in the Qatar World Cup came with an endless debate: Football vs Soccer. While fans around the world call it football, the US and some nations call it soccer.

However, fans seemed to have decided to end the debate during the England vs USA game in Qatar. The game ended in a stalemate, with the debate still going on. Interestingly, Hollywood superstars Tom Holland and Zendaya seemed to have agreed that the game is called football.

The FIFA World Cup has reached the semi-finals stage with just four games remaining in the competition. Argentina, Croatia, Morocco, and France are the only team remaining at the World Cup. Despite USMNT’s elimination, soccer season is still going on for the US fans as they enjoy the NCAA College Cup as well as the final stages of the FIFA WC.

Tom Holland and Zendaya are among the most celebrities in the US. They also like American football in the NFL. However, they don’t seem to be convinced that it should be called football at all. In fact, Tom suggested it be called ‘Throwball’.

Spiderman stars Tom Holland and Zendaya appeared in an interview last year, in which they debated some of the biggest topics in the world. As Tom is from England, he loves the game of soccer and would prefer it to be called football. He pitched a new name for American football during the interview.

Tom said: “I like American football.”

Zendaya replied: “American football is very dangerous.”

“I just will never understand why it’s called football, ’cause they don’t use their feet,” Tom continued. “I just don’t understand why it’s called football. Yeah. It should be called something different, maybe. Throwball. Whatever you wanna call it. Throwball. But you don’t kick it.”

To this, Zendaya replied, “You do kick it.”

Tom: “Yeah, once.” Zendaya: “But once. Yeah.”

“I like American football and I can respect the athleticism and the strategic aspects of the sport. But football is the greatest sport of all time. I mean, it is the world sport,” Tom Holland added.

The football vs soccer debate is an endless one and will continue to go on. However, we now know on which side Tom Holland and Zendaya are on.

American football continues to grow rapidly, with some of the biggest players and franchises. Soccer, on the other side, is a global sport, and its popularity is unmatched when it comes to the NFL. However, US fans have been watching NFL and supporting the USMNT at the same time as they want their team to excel on the global stage.

The 2022 NFL season is in its 14th week with Philadelphia Eagles boasting the best record among the franchise in both conferences. However, the Bills, Chiefs, and Vikings have been amazing this season as well and the Super Bowl is up for grab.
