Recently, the TST 7V7 tournament has been making strides in the soccer world. The US-based tournament’s recent inaugural has seen a positive response, with some of the most renowned soccer players witnessed in action. While it’s unknown what the future holds, it would be interesting to see the likes of Neymar, Lionel Messi, and Cristiano Ronaldo at the event next year.

However, it might be possible to see one of the aforementioned soccer superstars after all, as a recent claim from Tom Brady’s ex-teammate, definitely gives fans a reason to jump off their sofas.

Former NFL star makes Cristiano Ronaldo Pledge

The Soccer Tournament (TST) is currently taking place in North Carolina’s Research Triangle. The tournament is structured similarly to the World Cup, with a total of 32 teams participating. Moreover, the winner of the event will walk away with a $1 million dollar prize. Aside from this, many renowned names, including Cesc Fabregas and USWNT stars Heather O’Reilly and Kristine Lilly, also participated in the four-day event.

With such an overwhelming response, we might get to see another season of the tournament next year. In fact, the championship may return with some of the biggest names, like Ronaldo or Lorenzo Insigne. This comes after former NFL star Chad Johnson tweeted about the tournament.

He tweeted, “Yo this @TST7v7 is so dope, next year I’m bringing my friends to join @thenatisc, @wilfriedzaha, @Cristiano & @Lor_Insigne.” While praising the tournament, he also pledged to invite his friends, Ronaldo, Premier League star, Wilfried Zaha, and former Napoli star Lorenzo Insigne.

It seems the former wide receiver is impressed with the tournament and wants to see his friends participate in it. Surprisingly, Ryan Reynolds’ Wrexham also took part in the tournament, as they missed out on the million-dollar prize.

Wrexham misses out on million dollar prize

Following their successful promotion with Wrexham, Reynolds, and McElhenney decided to explore new ventures. The team’s owners recently registered for the unique friendly tournament held in the United States. Both were in line to make their debut as players in the seven-a-side tournament but couldn’t.

While the soccer world couldn’t see the duo in action, their team put up a commendable performance even in their absence. However, they were ultimately eliminated from the competition with a 4-3 loss against Conrad & Beasley United. Aside from missing out on winning a trophy, their main regret was not being able to secure the $1 million prize.

Undoubtedly, Reynolds must have harbored a strong hope of winning the whole thing. Nevertheless, it was an interesting take from Johnson, who is keen to see CR7 in the tournament.
