Monday night saw American football hit with a shocking incident when Damar Hamlin, Buffalo Bills’ safety, collapsed during the NFL game. The incident occurred during the game between Buffalo Bills and Cincinnati Bengals. The medical team rushed, and they administered to the footballer within 10 seconds of his collapse and CPR to the player.

After the CPR, they took the player to the hospital in an ambulance. NFL has postponed the game because of a medical emergency. They say the player is in critical condition, and fans, athletes, and celebs are rushing the prayers for Hamlin to get well soon.
The NFL incident reminds soccer fans of the Euro 2020 game, and fans have reacted
The incident during the NFL game has made soccer fans nostalgic as a similar incident happened during a Euro 2020 game between Denmark and Finland. Christian Eriksen, the Danish star, collapsed during the game and was treated on the field before rushing to the hospital. They stabilized him in the hospital.
Damar Hamlin suffered a cardiac arrest following a hit in our game versus the Bengals. His heartbeat was restored on the field and he was transferred to the UC Medical Center for further testing and treatment. He is currently sedated and listed in critical condition.

However, fans are reacting and want a similar fate to Eriksen for Hamlin. One fan wrote, “I think Hamlin is going to make it. He had a pulse, and you don’t stop an ambulance waiting for his mom before leaving if it’s do or die. Both good signs. Hopefully ends like Eriksen in soccer some years ago. Still playing.”
Fans see the incident as similar to that of Eriksen and want Hamlin to get well soon and take the field as the Danish has done.

Seen this once before in sport with the Danish soccer player Christian Eriksen in the Euros. It was horrific to see then and just as traumatizing now. Eriksen made a come back to the World Cup and now plays for Man United. Hope Hamlin survives and comes back strong 🙏

However, fans have also reminded sports authorities of the safety of the players. They are concerned for the athletes who suffer such medical conditions on the field that can be fatal.
Damar Hamlin, back in 2020, started a GoFundMe appeal to buy toys for children. He wants to use his popularity to serve the community where he came from. The fundraiser so far has raised 2 million USD to date.
Christian Eriksen comeback after the life-threatening incident

Eriksen suffered a cardiac arrest in 2021 while playing in the Euro 2020 game against Finland. He was lying on the pitch unconscious for several minutes with concerned looks on his teammates’ and fans’ faces in the stadium.

His condition was stable in the hospital where he spent several days, and they implanted pacemakers in the heart to regulate the heartbeats. He had to terminate his contract with Inter Milan. However, the player returned to the soccer field with Premier League club Brentford in March 2022 after eight months.
