But things changed on Sunday, as the MLS side became the reason to put the Big D on the world map. And the reason was the round of 16 game in the Leagues Cup against Inter Miami. There was a buzz in Dallas as Lionel Messi was in the city for soccer action. The seven-time Ballon d’Or winner has already set the soccer scene in the US abuzz, with Google signifying the player’s impact.
The official Twitter handle of Google Trends posted a tweet mentioning the top trending searches in the world. Accordingly, FC Dallas vs Inter Miami was trending on top on Sunday before and after the game. Moreover, according to the same tweet, the search for MLS has significantly surged since Messi arrived from PSG. The former FC Barcelona star’s impact is surreal on and off the field.

Messi is already in the top four goalscoring list for Inter Miami
The Argentine wizard had a blistering start to his Miami stint. Averaging 1.75 goals per game, the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner is the fourth all-time top scorer for the Herons.
