In recent times, Pickleball has become one of America’s fastest-ever growing sports. Several renowned athletes and celebrities have invested in this new sport. A few days ago, Odell Beckham Jr became the latest sports professional to invest in Pickleball. Beckham Jr joins an elite club of individuals like Tom Brady and LeBron James.

The American NFL star is now an owner of two sports franchises. It’s now become a common trend for athletes who are still active to invest in different sports teams.
Odell Beckham Jr’s different investments
Pickleball is a new but entertaining sport. This sport is often described as a mixture of Ping-pong, tennis, and badminton. In the last three years, an unbelievable number of people started playing Pickleball in America. Sports clubs and big hotels are now making designated areas for the sport due to its steady growth in demand over the past few years.

Big named individuals have also started to show interest in Pickleball. Odell Beckham Jr. is the latest to join that list. According to Sportico, Beckham Jr. just invested in a Pickleball franchise in Washington DC. However, the wide football receiver is not a first-timer in the investing business. The NFL star has been a soccer fan for the longest time. Hence, he first fulfilled his dream by putting his money where his heart lies.
Prior to investing, Beckham Jr joined Al Tylis’ group of investors. Al Tylis is one of the smartest sports investors out there. He was one of the very few individuals to pick on soccer’s upward trend in America. Famous names like Eva Longoria, Kate Upton, and Justin Verlander are part of the group. Al Tylis’ group first invested in a Mexican soccer club called Club Necaxa.

Following the successful investment, the group then invested in a Major League Pickleball’s expansion franchise in Washington DC. While it’s one of the fastest-growing sports in America, Beckham Jr has joined an elite group of sportspersons, including Tom Brady, after investing in Pickleball.

Prior to Beckham Jr, NBA legend, Kevin Durant was the latest sportsperson to invest in Pickleball. Several other NBA stars like LeBron James, Draymond Green, and Kevin Love already proudly own Major League Pickleball franchises.

NFL legend, Tom Brady and women’s tennis superstar, Kim Clijsters, together invested in a Major League Pickleball franchise too. Due to its ever-increasing demand, the Pickleball league announced that it would add four more expansion teams in the 2023 season.

Hence, a total of sixteen teams would compete in the new season. These teams are scheduled to play a total of six tournaments throughout the season. The total prize money of the league is now bumped up to over $2 million. It remains to be seen if Pickleball can garner the viewership numbers like the NBA in the coming years.
