However, despite the numbers being something to enjoy, it has not gone down well with a set number of fans.

Wrexham took to their official X (Twitter) account to make an announcement regarding the record ticket sales for their game against Newcastle United’s U21 side. But fans had none of it as they voiced their opinion to the post bashing the club for a surprising season.

For the uninitiated, multiple English sides have different teams across divisions. Clubs such as Newcastle and Manchester United have junior division teams that play against some of the lower-ranked teams from League One and Two to gain experience. Fans have never liked the formula; they feel this is a way to boost the bigger clubs.

Wrexham advertising that the team had sold a record number of tickets against a development team did not go down well with a portion of fans. Some fans have also started to boycott to EFL League trophy games following the inclusion of U21 sides, calling it unfair.

Multiple rival fans were fuming with Wrexham’s promotional post as they bashed the club across social media. One fan called the fools for promoting a game against a U21 side.

Another fan added that the club forgot to boycott these games.

One fan had somewhat of a positive reach but was disappointed with the team playing against a B Team.

Another fan slammed the owners for using this as an opportunity to promote playing against a Premier League side.

It is interesting to see the outpour of negative replies on Wrexham’s post. The club has been a fan favorite for a while now, but with English fans being passionate about soccer, their anger with the format seems to have hit the ‘Red Dragons’ this time around.
