And when the ambitions weren’t aligned with Manchester United’s goals, he was forced to exit and seek another playing abode. Even though the move out created different opinions, one person felt that he gave his all during his homecoming spell at Manchester United.
Ronaldo personally had a successful season in 2021-2022 but could not help United through to the Champions League. The subsequent season prior to the World Cup was when things started getting odd for him. His time at Old Trafford was summed up in a few words by one of the club’s former players.

Former player and assistant coach of Manchester United Mike Phelan, who worked very closely with Ronaldo had recently spoken about his second stint. He said that the striker does not compromise with his standards due to which he had to lose some people. Phelan said “He didn’t want his standards to drop, he wanted other people’s standards to come up. And sometimes you lose a few people along the way when that happens. I remember certain times when he pushed and pushed hard, and he didn’t get much reaction or much response. And there was frustration.”
He also said that the Portuguese skipper tried his best but did not get the needed intensity from other players, leading to his frustration.
Ronaldo later revealed that the players at United were not that supportive and would not last long in their careers. It was also revealed that a few unknown players also did not want Ronaldo to come back into the team after the thrashing.
With a lot of persistent issues with the coach and the players fused with a lack of any interest from top-level European teams, Ronald had to move to Al Nassr.

After coming to United, even though he was 36 but was stronger-minded than before claimed Phelan. The 5 time Ballon d’Or winner came to United with expectations of scoring more goals and winning more trophies. Failing to be successful in the second season due to declining opportunities left him looking for different challenges.
Phelan also said that Ronaldo took the courage to leave Portugal and come to England for his first period. He said that CR7 came and learned everything that was needed from the British point of view. His hard work and work ethic were also a reason for Phelan and other staff to include him in the team when he was young.
