Ben Foster has emerged as one of the top names for Wrexham‘s success last season. The veteran Premier League goalkeeper was a force between the posts for his side as he helped them clinch the National League title.

Foster has been one of the top names in the English circuit from a young age, representing the likes of Manchester United after being scouted by the legendary manager Sir Alex Ferguson. Ever since then, Ben Foster has grown into one of the most dependable keepers across the UK, with great stints at different clubs.

While Ben Foster emerged as a big name following his spells at Manchester United, the goalkeeper admitted that he was a little green in the beginning and would let his mistakes haunt him. In a podcast with Men with Blazer, Foster opened up on the mindset while keeping and what changes he had to make to improve his game.

“That’s the mentality of the sport. You have to have a positive outlook, especially as a goalkeeper. So I think I spent too many years in my early 20s thinking, like oh what if I don’t catch it? What if I make a mistake, the ramifications? And that will hold you back. I promise you it will hold you back,” said the Englishman.

“So I get to a point where, (am I allowed to swear). So I just get to a point where I’m like f**k it, just f**k it. It’s not the end of the world. I’m trying my best here and if I make a mistake here, it’s cool. It is what it is. I’ll go into the dressing room and be like lads. I’m sorry. I did not mean to make those mistakes. So once I started to do that, my performances went up, and I felt so much happier,” he added

Ben Foster’s words hold great value, considering the goalkeepers’ experience across the country. With Wrexham hoping to clinch promotion from League Two, Foster will have to play a crucial role for the side once again.
