The soccer world was sent into a state of frenzy after David de Gea announced his exit from Manchester United. Although fans are concerned with De Gea’s exit, the Red Devils filled the void with the signing of Andre Onana. However, Onana’s recent actions towards Harry Maguire have drawn several concerns. Furthermore, Wrexham star Ben Foster also called out Onana for his antics towards Maguire during a pre-season friendly.
Onana joined the United for £43.9 million from Inter Milan to replace David de Gea. The Red Devil’s goalkeeper burst out of anger after the English defender made a clumsy mistake that almost allowed Dortmund to score. Although the Cameroon shot-stopper prevented BvB from subsequently scoring, he lost his temper on Maguire. Because of his dishonorable behavior towards the English defender, Onana received negative feedback from fans, including Ben Foster.

Already regarded as one of the best goalkeepers in the world, Andre Onana’s move to Manchester United and the Premier League is a blessing for Red Devils fans. Since he replaces David de Gea after the Spaniard’s 12-year spell at the club, carrying out his legacy isn’t an effortless task.
On top of that, Onana and Maguire’s recent tense moment on the field has raised several concerns about the squad’s chemistry. A few days back, Onana raged out at Maguire because of his clumsy mistake that almost cost Red Devils a goal. During the game, the Cameroon shot-stopper raced out of his box, lamenting Maguire for losing possession in a dangerous area.
However, Onana’s dishonorable actions didn’t receive any sympathy from fans, including Man United’s former goalkeeper. Ben Foster believes Andre Onana was ‘bang out of order’ to react angrily at the English defender. Foster further adds on the United Stand podcast that any professional soccer player would feel Onana’s actions were out of order.
He also mentions that he personally didn’t like the 27-year-old actions against Maguire. “I don’t think it’s necessary. I get it, you’re annoyed but it’s a pre-season friendly. You don’t need to go shouting and raving. I guarantee you, every player in any dressing room up and down the country will have seen that and gone nah that’s bang out of order,” Foster adds.

He also explains Onana’s anger from Maguire’s perspective. He adds, “Without a doubt. If I’m Maguire and somebody’s doing that to me, I’m going what are you doing you di*khead, calm down.” Wrexham’s goalie also reveals that Maguire is in a bad place right now and the English defender doesn’t deserve such behaviour. Interestingly, Red Devil’s goalie Onana also spoke about the tense moment between him and Maguire after the match.
Ben Foster and Andre Onana’s thoughts on Harry Maguire
Harry Maguire isn’t having the best seasons of his career ever since Ronaldo’s arrival at United last summer. However, Onana’s rage moment grew concern over the team’s chemistry. Interestingly, the 27-year-old goalkeeper spoke highly of Harry Maguire after the game.
Besides the small tense moment on the field, Onana reveals that he holds a deep respect for every teammate. He further talks about Maguire and adds, “He’s big, he’s good with the ball, so I will demand him a lot. He’s a great guy, I have a good relationship with him.”

However, Ben Foster has a totally different opinion from the Red Devil’s star. He believes that the best decision for Harry would be to think about his exit from Man United. Foster says, “I think that’s the state that Maguire is in at the minute. He’s in a bad place. For me, the best resolution for Harry Maguire would be for him to get a move away.”

Because of all the criticism and death threats, it would be best for Maguire to think about a transfer move. Furthermore, since Saudi Arabian clubs are dominating the summer’s transfer window, the English defender could make an unthinkable move.
