Megan Rapinoe has a reputation for being very vocal about her views and beliefs. For her strong stances, she had been in countless controversies. The most important one was the battle for equal pay against the US Soccer Federation. She had also been very vocal about the fight for equality for the LGBTQ+ community.

Rapinoe talked about the importance of equality throughout her career, and even in her autobiography. Among many topics she discussed in her book, this is one of the most prominent ones. The USWNT star was also in a very public war of words with former president Donald Trump.

In one segment of her autobiography titled One life, she talks about an incident after their match against France in the quarter-final. Megan Rapinoe talked to some reporters after the team’s win on the eve of the Paris Pride march.

Rapinoe wrote about the harmony a team needs and talked to the reporters after beating France in the quarter-finals of the FIFA World Cup 2019. She talked about the representation she gave to the community and how it should be.

About the incident, Megan Rapinoe wrote in her book, “The night we won against France was the eve of the Paris Pride march, which takes place at the end of LGBTQ Pride Month. In the post-game interviews, I talked about the match and the goals, then drew attention to the team itself. “You can’t win a championship without gays on your team,” I said to reporters. “Go gays!” We were happy, fabulous, and on every front page of the land. This is what winning for the United States looked like.

She did represent the community on many occasions and continued to do so after writing this. USWNT had never looked more dominating than in the 2019 Word Cup. They won everything.

Megan Rapinoe scored two goals against France, helping them win the QF 2-1. USWNT had a flawless run in the tournament and won every match. They finished the group stage winning all three matches and faced Spain in the round of 16, France in QF, and England in the semi-final. In every one of these matches in the knockout stage, they won by 2-1.

The team faced the Netherlands in the finals and Rapinoe get the team their first advantage when she converted a penalty in the 61st minute. They quickly doubled the lead when Lavelle scored in the 69th minute and gave USWNT the lead, which they will carry till the final whistle.
