The USWNT team was lucky to pass through the group stage. They drew two games, and their performance levels were nowhere near their desired benchmark. Hence, fans have voiced their opinions and are unhappy with the current performance of their favorite soccer team. Likewise, USWNT legend Carli Lloyd came out with a criticism of her own following the frustrating draw. After the match, the players danced around to celebrate, and Lloyd found it strange and couldn’t believe the current mentality.
In the wake of this, Lindsey Horan stepped up to defend her team in the face of criticism. She is the team’s current captain and donned the same number 10 jersey as Lloyd. Therefore, she displayed her leadership qualities and stood by her team.

According to the Philadelphia Inquirer, Horan commented, “It’s kind of frustrating for me to hear, especially knowing this team and knowing how much we put into every single game, how much preparation we put into every single game, seeing our trainings, seeing how hard we work. You can’t question that we didn’t want to win the game. You can’t question [whether] we weren’t working as hard as we possibly could.”
She replied to Carli Lloyd, who had a different view of the team. Following the team’s post-match revelry, she remarked on never before witnessing such a spectacle. Moreover, she stated how the team was lucky to make it to the knockout rounds. As the game headed to a 0-0 draw, Ana Capeta of Portugal got behind the USWNT back line, only to hit the post in additional time. Had that gone in, the USWNT would have been eliminated from the competition. Hence, to progress, they must improve their level of performance.
The team will face Sweden in the Round of 16, who topped the group with three sensational wins. If the US soccer team carries the same form to that match, the curtains will close for their three-peat

The team must improve to progress!
Comparing the forms of both teams, Sweden is the clear favorite to progress through to the next round. They have won their three matches by scoring nine goals and conceding just one. Meanwhile, the USWNT managed four goals and conceded one in those three games. The Swedish attack continues to work on all cylinders and has formed a potent attack.
With the shaky USWNT defense, the situation is far from perfect for the team. Hence, the team must improve to progress, and Alex Morgan and Co will hope to score more goals. Can they do it?
