In the latest Netflix documentary, the Morocco boss has recalled the memories of beating a team superior to them in money and talent.

Morocco’s victory over Portugal sent shockwaves among soccer fans all over the world. It also proved that there are no such easy games in the biggest soccer tournament in the world to progress to the next round.

The FIFA World Cup can make people feel many things, from ecstatic celebrations to sad memories they would rather forget. One big historical event happened when Portugal played against Morocco. This important game changed the way soccer is played in Africa all over the world. In a recent Netflix documentary ‘Captains of the World’, Morocco’s manager Walid Regragui talked about their win against Os Navegadores in the quarter-finals. He said, “You can have less talent, less money, less quality, but if you want it enough if you work hard enough, if you fight and believe, you will be able to do anything.”

In the game, Morocco showed constant effort from the beginning. They used all of their chances well whether it was attacking back or keeping control of the ball. This hard work helped when an important corner kick made star player Youssef En-Nesyri score just before the halftime break. After gaining the lead, the Moroccan team put all their effort into making their defense stronger and getting the famous victory.

After the World Cup loss, Fernando Santos left his role as the manager. The federation wasted no time with the new appointment, choosing former Belgium manager Roberto Martinez. Since then, the team has not looked back; they are thriving under the Spanish manager, having a 10-game unbeaten streak.

The appointment has also helped Cristiano Ronaldo get back to his best. He has been scoring goals for fun. So, for the Portugal team, the stage is perfectly set for them to do their best in the Euros 2024 in Germany.
