Sevilla is one of the most renowned soccer clubs in Spain’s La Liga. The club has exhibited yo-yo-like tendencies for the past few seasons, however, not many expected a complete financial collapse. Sevilla has reportedly transfer-listed their entire squad to resolve their $98 million (£77m) debt. Yes, the famous La Liga club is in severe debt and all eyes are now set on prominent players from the roster that are going to be available for far cheaper prices.
The club is facing a crisis and could plunge into a deep financial hole, exactly like rivals Barcelona. The Europa League royalty’s future could be at stake if it fails to pay off its $98 million debt.

Sevilla ‘transfer list entire squad’ as Europa League winners face major debts
Sevilla Fútbol Club was formed on 25 January 1890, with the Scottish-born Edward Farquharson Johnston as their first president. It has won the UEFA Cup/Europa League seven times, the most of any club. Owing to Sevilla’s rich history, it was very shocking when the club announced the transfer list for the entire squad.

Not to mention, Sevilla’s glorious victory against Jose Mourinho’s AS Roma on penalties to lift the Europa League hyped several fans. Since Sevilla’s roster consists of talented athletes, it wouldn’t be impossible for the club to pay off its debt. Moreover, Moroccan goalkeeper Yassine Bounou was previously linked with a switch to Saudi Arabia.
Although Sevilla may come back strong after paying off its debt, it will face several problems similar to its rival, FC Barcelona. La Liga hasn’t exactly made things easy for Barcelona, given that the club has to abide by FFP. It also prevented them from signing Lionel Messi. Sevilla may be fated to face a similar experience.

If the Seville club doesn’t want a ride in the same boat, they must act quickly to reduce their debt and adhere to the FFP of La Liga. Sevilla’s roaster also features other promising players such as Argentine World Cup winners Gonzalo Montiel and Marcos Acuna. Also in the roster are, former Tottenham Hotspur winger Erik Lamela, ex-Liverpool youngster Suso, and former Manchester United wonder kid Adnan Januzaj. Interestingly, Sevilla sporting director Monchi also left his sporting management role at the club for a second time. It’s rumored that Monchi left Sevilla due to their financial situation.
