The pride of Cheshire.” The host said Liverpool when he said those words, and Johnson replied by stating it was Liverpool. Speaking of Liverpool, the European giants are one of the greatest English teams in the world. But in all fairness, The Rock confused the fans with this statement. Notably, ‘The Pride of Cheshire’ is actually Macclesfield and not Liverpool. Does that ring a bell?

As fans who watched the video, there are two takeaways from it. Either the host does not know what ‘The Pride of Cheshire’ stood for, or the Rock didn’t know soccer. He partnered with a hedge fund group that specializes in commodity markets to make an offer for the soccer club. Southend is facing financial issues right now, and if they can make the deal, a similar documentary like ‘Welcome to Wrexham’ could be on the cards!

According to Echo, the bidders are in advanced talks to purchase the club by contacting Rock’s production company, Seven Bucks Productions, who wants to create a documentary, if they complete the takeover. While Ryan Reynolds boosted the Wrexham fan base with the help of his brand value and marketing, Johnson will take it up a notch.

He is one of the most active celebrities on social media. Compared to Ryan Reynolds’ 49.1 million followers on Instagram, the Rock has 381 million followers, while he also has 17 million followers on Twitter. Producing a documentary about Southend United would be brand-boosting. The worldwide reach could get eyeballs towards the soccer club. To sum up, Hollywood loves English soccer.
