The wait is finally over! The much-anticipated 2024/25 season EFL League One is here. Newly promoted Wrexham AFC will be cutting the ribbon of their campaign against Wycombe Wanders at SToK Cae Ras. It is the first time the Welsh side is playing in England’s third division since 2004-05. Meanwhile, the away side is making their fourth consecutive League One appearance.
Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney-owned club would have drawn up a third consecutive promotion on their agenda list. Their pre-season tour suggests so, losing not a single game out of the five friendlies they played. While victories were clinched against Hanley Town, Vancouver Whitecaps, and Fleetwood, they played a draw against Bournemouth and Chelsea.
On the other hand, Wycombe will again assemble to make a much-awaited promotion to the EFL Championship. In the last three seasons, they have finished sixth, ninth, and 10th in the League One table. The opening match will tell how Matt Bloomfield’s side is prepared. It was back in March 2008 when the Chairboys faced the Red Dragons.
