Finally, Wrexham has completed a transfer as they welcomed goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo on board. The talented shot-stopper played a key part in the Red Dragon’s promotion last season. His performances even earned him a place in the League Two TOTY. But, it seems Okonkwo is just a prologue of what is to come. As per reports, Phil Parkinson and Co want to sign the former strike partner of Paul Mullin.

According to reports on X, Wrexham has made an undisclosed bid for Doncaster Rovers striker Joe Ironside. Notably, Ironside has played with Paul Mullin at Cambridge United between 2020-21. As such, he holds the Red Dragons striker in high regard. Regarding his partnership with Mullin, Ironside had said, “I just played my game, and then Mulls played his, and it all married in together.” Could the duo be about to be reunited at Stōk Cae Ras?

Regardless, one thing is clear. Ryan Reynolds and Co are in the market for a new #9. Previously, there were reports that the owners were keen on bringing Macauley Langstaff to the club. Last season, Langstaff was the only player in League Two to outscore Mullin (28 vs 24). But, a significant financial outlay was expected for the deal. As per the estimates, Wrexham would have had to break their club transfer record for the deal. Perhaps, the finances might have proved to be the barrier to the deal.

Even the Joe Ironside deal won’t be cheap. After all, the striker had scored 20 goals in League Two last year. Hence, it’s imperative that Reynolds and McElhenney do what’s needed to get the deal over the line. Otherwise, they could face a repeat of the Josh Magennis situation.

Josh Magennis is expected to snub Wrexham for Exeter City!

Josh Magennis, striker of League One club Wigan Athletic was a reported target for Wrexham AFC. While Magennis is not the most prolific of goalscorers, he would much brought in some much-needed winning mentality having won League One twice previously. With over 600 appearances for club and country and having trained under Phil Parkinson before at Bolton Wanderers, Magennis looked the perfect fit for Wrexham.

Unfortunately, another club is reportedly ahead of Wrexham in the queue for the striker’s signature. As per the Wrexham insider, Josh Magennis is expected to sign with League One side Exeter City. Having been released by Wigan Athletic, Magennis was one of the hottest free agents in the market. Sadly, it seems the transfer has slipped beyond Wrexham.

Whom do you think should Wrexham sign next? Let us know below in the comments.
