"Is Wrexham's hunt for a League One striker a game-changer for the club's future?"

If a new season in a new league has knocked on Wrexham’s door, can new signings be far behind? Wrexham has been shaking up the transfer market lately from signing Arthur Okonkwo on a permanent deal to retrying for Gareth Bale’s priced signature. While the Red Dragons striker Steven Fletcher has extended his contract last week, Phil Parkinson feels the Welsh side needs more star power to galvanize its frontline.

That’s not all, Ryan Reynolds’ team is also dominating the Tom Brady-owned Birmingham City in a race to secure star midfielder Joe Morell’s signature.

As per the page, EFL Hub on X, Wrexham, Hearts of Midlothian, Sheffield Wednesday, and Birmingham City have held advanced talks with former Wigan Athletic striker Stephen Humphrys. Wrexham notably made an early attempt during the January window to poach Humphrys. Now that the 26-year-old striker is officially out of a contract with Wigan, Phil Parkinson, and Co. are preparing a new offer for him. Humphrys scored nine goals and assisted four times for Wigan last season, and is a worthy candidate to bolster the Dragons’ frontline.

Joe Morell took center stage on Wrexham’s radar after he decided to leave Portsmouth this summer. Besides the Welsh side, Birmingham City and Queens Park Rangers competed for Morell’s signature. The report on EFL Hub suggests Morell is more inclined towards the Red Dragons at the moment.

Anyhow, League One players such as Humphrys and Morell are not the only players on Parkinson’s wishlist. Wrexham has reportedly aimed to bring in high-profile players with Premier League and La Liga experience. They are aiming for consecutive promotions yet again with their unnerving intent.

During an interview last month, Wrexham’s director Humphrey Ker dropped a bombshell transfer plan. Ker mentioned that the Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney-owned side aim to sign Liverpool midfielder Wataru Endo. Ker revealed Endo has impressed the Wrexham entourage since he started with Liverpool last season.

However, the Japanese captain is contractually tied to Liverpool till 2026, making things difficult for Phil Parkinson and Co.

Besides this, Rob McElhenney has famously tried again to convince Real Madrid legend Gareth Bale to come out of retirement and play for Wrexham. McElhenney also joked that Wrexham would give him additional off time for Bale to indulge in his favorite activity, which is golfing. However, Parkinson thinks the Welsh legend won’t take a U-turn on his retirement. Anyhow, it is indeed a positive update for fans to see Wrexham showing such grand transfer ambitions.

It assures fans that the club has taken its EFL League One challenge seriously and is doing everything in its power to equip the team for the new season.
