Wrexham has fallen short in their pursuit to win the EFL League Two title. A slender margin of 4 points means that Stockport County are the champions. Yet that doesn’t diminish the Red Dragons’ achievement. The side has secured a historic promotion to League One, the first back-to-back promotion in its 159-year storied history. But, even with the superstar backing and financial prowess of Ryan Reynolds and co, the feat wasn’t easy per Andy Cannon.

The midfielder recently spoke about the physical hardships the Wrexham players had to undergo. He said, “The boys are playing through pain every game. I’ve been going through pain every game. It’s very tough, and people on the outside don’t know the ins and outs, but we’re going into every game, and I’m not sure everyone’s 100% all the time.” Yet, Cannon doesn’t view this as an excuse.

He added, “But that’s what we’ve got. We’ve got a good mentality in the players, and players willing to go out and give it their all.” With a staggering 88 points from 46 games, the Wrexham players gave everything. Andy Cannon has been the playmaker extraordinaire and his ball-striking and intelligence have served the Red Dragons well. In fact, his recent performance against Crewe Alexandra has earned him comparisons to KDB!

However, there is a feeling that Wrexham might need more than 100% of its current crop for next season. As a result, manager Phil Parkinson has spoken of the need for transfers ahead of the ‘big test.’ Consequently, the KDB in Andy Cannon might be about to get its own Erling Haaland.

Wrexham plotting a big money move for Paul Mullin’s partner

Paul Mullin has a claim to be Wrexham’s most impactful player. In 38 games this season, the striker has netted 24 times while delivering 6 assists. As a result, he is comfortably the best goalscorer for the Red Dragons. Yet, the Golden Boot award this season went to a Notts County star. With a staggering 28 goals, Macaulay Langstaff is the Golden Boot winner. Per reports, Ryan Reynolds wants to bring the English attacker to STōK Cae Ras. However, the move won’t come cheap.

The projection is that the transfer fee would surpass the $440k paid for Ollie Palmer in 2022. Hence, we are looking at a club record transfer. However, if the move does materialize, then it could be a mouth-watering prospect for Wrexham fans. Langstaff is not touted to be a Paul Mullin replacement but as a partner to the legendary striker. A Mullins-Langstaff partnership could be what manager Parkinson needs to ace the challenge of League One.
