Wrexham’s penultimate game of the promotion-gaining EFL League Two season ended in spectacular style. The Red Dragons met Crewe Alexandra on the road and tore them to shreds with a 3-0 scoreline. Star attacker Paul Mullin stole the show at Crewe’s home with an assist and a clutch strike at the end of the first half. Anyhow, the loftiest of praises did not come Mullin’s way. After driving in the last nail on Crewe Alexandra’s coffin, a Wrexham midfielder has earned comparisons to Manchester City ace Kevin De Bruyne.

The time was past 60 minutes in the Crewe Alexandra-Wrexham tie. The Dragons’ midfielder, Sam Dalby, saw fellow midfielder Andy Cannon running towards Crewe’s box. Dalby quickly played a long ball that penetrated the opposition’s defense to land on Cannon’s feet. The Wrexham midfielder thereafter dribbled past the rival defender with ease and sent a clean strike to the bottom corner of the net.

Cannon took to Instagram to celebrate his goal and Wrexham’s win. He shared his picture and wrote, “another one,” on his post. Subsequently, his teammate James McClean took to the comments section with a Kevin De Bruyne comparison. Tescos own brand De Bruyne,” commented McClean under the Wrexham goalscorer’s post.

It is unclear as to what McClean meant by his comment. Besides, it is to be learned if the Manchester-born Andy Cannon has crossed paths with Manchester City’s Kevin De Bruyne. However, it is no surprise that the midfielder’s spontaneous run into the box and clean strike to the bottom reminded McClean of the Belgian maestro’s stellar Man City goals. Besides this, McClean also gave Andy Cannon a KDB nickname in a viral post-game video.

Wrexham AFC’s X handle has posted a video of Cannon and McClean pulling off some friendly antics after the sensational win against Crewe Alexandra. “Two Great Friends,” Wrexham’s handle captioned the post. In the video, McClean could be seen constantly calling Andy Cannon, “Skint De Bruyne.” The hilarious nickname is an allusion to the staggering difference between the Wrexham star and Kevin De Bruyne’s fortunes. Anyhow, any comparison to a midfield heavyweight like De Bruyne will be joyful for the 28-year-old.
