Fans have been in love with Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney’s Welcome to Wrexham. The docuseries has received widespread praise from fans and critics for portraying the ups and downs to a tee. Yet, not everyone is in awe of the series. Rival clubs and fans are not too pleased with the attention Wrexham has gotten over the past couple of years. But the way the club’s far-famed owners reacted is rather noteworthy.
The latest episode of the docuseries showcased Wrexham’s away game against arch-rivals Notts Country. Right before the game, one of the Notts County supporters looked straight into the camera as he made an offensive gesture while adding. “F**k your documentary.” While many would have expected Rob and Ryan to have a harsh reaction to the insult, the duo remained in character with a humorous response.
Rob McElhenney, while talking with the camera, stated, “I’m not 100% sure, but I like to believe that Notts County Zone. As Notts County zone knows, he’s one of my favorite Twitter accounts.” Reynolds also chipped in adding. “I follow the account, I love him. I’m obsessed with Notts County. It’s an incredible club.”

The rivalry between Wrexham and Notts County has been one for the ages. Tensions are usually high when these two sides take to the field, with both sets of supporters expecting a win from their team. However, it seems like Wrexham might have taken a step over their rivals this season. The Red Dragons finished the season with 88 points from 46 games. Meanwhile, Notts County struggled to maintain their initial form and finished 14th on the standings with just 61 points.
While Wrexham and Notts County’s rivalry might be done for the season, it doesn’t seem like the clubs are done with each other. According to reports, Wrexham following their promotion wants to bolster their squad and has identified Notts County’s Macaulay Langstaff as a potential signing. Langstaff was the top scorer in League Two this season, with the striker racking up 28 goals. It will be interesting to see if Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney can convince the player to let bygones be bygones and sign this summer.
