It sounds surprising, but Super Mullin did it. He outscored the likes of Erling Haaland and Harry Kane to finish top of the list. The world’s third-oldest soccer club punched above its weight, with Paul Mullin playing a crucial role. Manchester City’s Riyad Mahrez was the only threat to outscore Mullin in the competition. But he needed to score four goals against Manchester United in the final at Wembley. It was a next-to-difficult task, and Pep Guardiola snubbing him from the starting lineup made it possible for Mullin to finish the top-scorer.
Mullin opened his account against Oldham Athletic by scoring a brace in the first round. He kept his form in the second round, where he scored a hat-trick against Farnborough. He scored a goal each in the next three games against second-division sides: Coventry City and Sheffield United. However, a loss away from home in the fourth-round replay saw Wrexham bowing out of the FA Cup.
Meanwhile, Paul Mullin wasn’t the only Wrexham star who shined in the world’s oldest soccer competition.
