Financial backing aside, it is ideal that sports team owners build a rapport with their players. The Welsh soccer club Wrexham AFC‘s Hollywood owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney are masters of culminating such warm relationships. From lauding players’ achievements to engaging in playful banter with them, Rob and Ryan always make sure that their players feel at home. The duo has recently given a shout-out to Max Cleworth for scoring his maiden Wrexham goal. Subsequently, they sparked a banter-filled conversation and dropped hints on the rewards that await Wrexham players if they achieve a second straight league promotion.
On April 05, the 21-year-old Max Cleworth scored an 85th-minute clutch goal to complete Wrexham’s come-from-behind win against Colchester in an EFL League Two tie. The Welsh club’s X handle honored Cleworth’s strike with a post and captioned it, “YESSSSSSSS MAXYYYYY!!!” Rob McElhenney shared the tweet.
He wrote, “Hey @maxcleworth88 you’re old enough for Vegas this year. Just sayin…,” Ryan Reynolds rushed under McElhenney’s post and commented with a head-on-hand emoji, jokingly implying he was fed up with the latter’s antics. “Wow. how is @VancityReynolds the responsible “parent” in this scenario?” a user replied to Reynolds’ comment. Thereafter, the Deadpool star instantly replied “Yes” to the user.

Ryan Reynolds has perhaps implied he will take up the role of being Cleworth’s responsible parent. Meanwhile, McElhenney’s Vegas joke is an allusion to the Wrexham squad’s Las Vegas trip last year. As it happened, Rob and Ryan sponsored a Vegas trip to the Red Dragons squad because they achieved promotion to the EFL League Two after a 15-year hiatus. As performer Wrexham goalie Ben Foster, the club owners spent north of half a million dollars at the lavish party! Now, another party knocks on the Dragons’ door as a new promotion is games away.

As per the English soccer league system, the top three teams of the EFL League Two will be promoted to the EFL League One. Now, Wrexham is the second seed in the League Two table. They just need to stick resolutely to their second spot, and an automatic promotion will come their way. Besides, if the top-seeded Stockport trembles in the remaining games, Wrexham could finish the league at the top as well.
However, there is only a narrow two-point gap between Wrexham and the third-seeded MK Dons. Meanwhile, the fourth seed- Mansfield Town, has a three-point gap with the Red Dragons. Hence, it is paramount for Rob and Ryan’s side to fare well in the remaining four games. They cannot settle for anything less than a win.

If the Welsh side trembles and MK Dons and Mansfield Town do well, maybe the former will blow their second promotion. Only time will tell if the Dragons will go partying again or remain in League Two for the time being.
