Wrexham excels at capturing the devotion of their fandom and beyond. But it’s the Welsh club’s Hollywood owners, Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, who often steal the spotlight with their generous contributions to the team and the town’s community. Now, another such gesture from McElhenney has come to light as he steps in to rally for a family support charity by sending a heartfelt message.

The ‘It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia’ actor took to X and shared one of the scenes from the latest episode of Welcome to Wrexham Season 3. In the small clip, his club’s midfielder James Jones can be seen narrating the story of his infant child, Jude, who is special, alongside his wife Chloe. The couple had received support from various charities. Aside from sharing the clip, he wrote a caption saying, “Wrexham is family ❤️,” while simultaneously adding the website of the neonatal family support.

Jones and Chloe had received support from two Bolton-based family support charities called ‘Spoons’ and ‘Special Care for Special Babies,’ as well as ‘Cherish,’ a Wrexham-based group. The ‘Spoons’ charity that McElhenney is advocating follows the motto of “Supporting the whole family from admission to the neonatal unit and beyond.” These charities primarily focus on providing comprehensive practical and emotional support to families, counseling, sensory play and baby massage sessions, and community groups.

Jones and his wife Chloe also received extensive support from this charity for their son Jude. Certainly, this heartfelt message from McElhenney will bolster their cause and spread awareness. In fact, the couple is following in the footsteps of Samaritan Wrexham star.

James Jones carries the torch led by his Wrexham teammate Paul Mullin

Hours before Rob McElhenney’s touching gesture, James Jones and his wife Chloe rallied for the cause that is close to their heart. They’ve launched a fundraising program for intensive care units at Wrexham Maelor and Bolton hospitals, both adult and neonatal, and are supporting Spoons charity, which aided them during their difficult journey. The emotional appeal was made on Instagram with a caption explaining their cause. “Any donations will be hugely appreciated ♥️,” they wrote.

With this step, Jones echoes Paul Mullin’s philanthropy work. Last year, the star striker became part of a Wrexham-based autism charity, YourSpace. The cause holds significant personal meaning for Paul, as doctors have diagnosed his own son with autism. Ryan Reynolds also extended his support to the 29-year-old forward. Be that as it may, it seems that both Hollywood owners have brought a nurturing spirit to the club and community. No wonder why Rob McElhenney calls it the Wrexham family!
