Wrexham co-owner Rob McElhenney joked that the club officials would give Gareth Bale time off for golfing, should he join the Red Dragons this summer. McElhenney is notably trying for the second time to poach the Welsh legend, as Wrexham is back in the EFL League One after an 18-year break. Bale’s experience and expertise would undoubtedly catapult Wrexham’s ambitions for a third straight promotion. Anyhow, the Welsh side’s head coach Phil Parkinson has now cleared the air surrounding the former Real Madrid superstar and given an update that will upset fans.

Gareth Bale’s potential switch to Wrexham, among other things was discussed by Phil Parkinson in a recent Sky Sports interview. “Unfortunately, there’s no exclusive on that one. I don’t think that’s going to happen. Gareth has been retired for a year now. And I think it’s probably a bit tongue-in-cheek when it got mentioned again. Yes, an absolute legend of Welsh football. But there is no development since those quotes,” said Phil Parkinson.

Phil Parkinson said so perhaps because Gareth Bale’s comments from last year convinced him that the latter won’t come out of retirement. Last year, when asked about a potential Wrexham move, Bale said, “No, I don’t think so. I think I was looking more for a free round of golf off Rob. I’m sure we’ll have a chat and a joke, but I’m quite happy where I am.” Anyhow, this has not stopped McElhenney from pursuing the former Welsh captain. Let’s see what has the Always Sunny in Philadelphia star to offer for Bale.

McElhenney’s latest plea for Bale to join Wrexham has bizarre offers

“Gareth Bale is still technically available! I don’t know, I made the plea last year and I’m just going to tell Gareth that the offer’s still on the table. We’ll let you off for golf, whenever you need to get off,” said Rob McElhenney via X. He added that Wrexham would demand Bale to show up only once a week for training. McElhenney also joked that Parkinson and Co. would find a way to have Bale 10 minutes on the pitch during a Wrexham game. Bale, however, has not responded to these comments. If he ever will, there is a chance that he will again turn his back on the Red Dragons, just like Parkinson anticipated.

Bale retired from soccer following Wale’s 2022 World Cup exit. He left Real Madrid to have a brief stint in the MLS, representing the Los Angeles FC. At 34 years of age, Bale is surely a healthy prospect for Wrexham and could become their biggest signing to date. But the only offer that the former Madrid star would entertain from McElhenney would be a free round of golf.
