Ryan Reynolds has become a popular personality in the sports universe since taking over Wrexham AFC. The Deadpool star is now looking to broaden his horizons into other sports. As of last November, reports suggested that Reynolds was looking to get a hold of an NHL team. Since then, the Hollywood star has been working towards that goal too.
The Ottawa Senators now seem like the prime destination for him. As per recent reports, Reynolds joined forces with a billion-dollar firm to help him take over the Senators.

A few days ago, Reynolds indirectly further confirmed his interest in the NHL giants through his social media.
Ryan Reynolds adds fuel to the Senators’ takeover speculations!
Senators’ general manager, Pierre Dorion, confirmed that the Sens’ goalkeeper, Anton Forsberg, will be out of the squad for an indefinite period after suffering a major injury. Forsberg was involved in an unfortunate scramble during the game. The medics had to get Forsberg off the ice on a stretcher. Reports later claimed that the goaltender had suffered an MCL tear in both his knees.

There was a glimmer of hope after NHL columnist Bruce Garrioch recently tweeted that the goaltender would not require surgery. However, he did mention that the NHL giants are still assessing the grade of the injury. While the fans felt a bit revealed, Ryan Reynolds shockingly liked Garrioch’s tweet. It’s safe to say that the Hollywood stars’ actions have sent the Senator’s fans into a further frenzy.
It now seems like the Canadian actor is taking an active interest in the team’s daily news. This does not come across as a surprise because the fans were already speculating about a potential takeover. Reynolds has also done a good job in the past to keep this takeover a complete secret. However, he hasn’t shied away from attending live games of different NHL teams.
As per solid recent reports, the Hollywood star had joined forces with Ontario’s biggest real estate development company to take over the NHL giant.
The latest news on the Reynolds-Senators takeover
A few days ago, Remington Group brought Ryan Reynolds on board to help them prepare a bid for the Ottawa Senators’ takeover. The Canadian actor would reportedly now act as the face of the consortium and lead its operations further.
Apart from that, Reynolds also has the support of the NHL commissioner himself. A month ago, the NHL commissioner, Gary Bettman, made it very clear that he wanted Reynolds to be associated with the NHL.

Bettman believes that the Wrexham AFC co-owner has the natural ability to garner a global audience wherever he goes. The effects of his massive fan following have recently borne fruit at the Welsh soccer club. Getting him associated with the professional ice hockey league would help better its global presence and overall viewership.
