$80,000,000 Worth After Break Up With Shakira, Gerard Pique’s $20 Million Project Was Delayed Due to 250 Graves Back in 2022

Back in 2015, Gerard Pique invested about 20 million USD in a plot of land, on which he planned to construct a luxury hotel. The halt came into effect in 2022 after the historical importance of that land came into existence. This story took place a few months after the Spanish soccer veteran had already broken up with Shakira.

The story developed as the archeological importance of the property came into question. Although after studies, a couple of months down the line, they gave the project a green light. Around 250 graves that were scattered on that property caused the halt, according to reports.

Gerard Pique almost lost the dream

Although it was eventually green-lit in January 2023, for a couple of months, the $20 million project of Gerard Pique rested at the mercy of archeologists. Thankfully, the tombs were empty and were never used. Unused tombs don’t carry the same values as the historically used ones. Hence, they approved the project which is now valued at 80 million USD.

Alberto Cupain, an archeologist from the project said, “We have excavated about 250 tombs, of which the vast majority are empty. Possibly, the tombs were never used, and are not valuable enough to be preserved. It is one of the largest necropolises in the country.” He then gave the estimate that Pique should get the permit in around a couple of months.

Although Pique dodged that bullet, even he couldn’t see the next obstacle in his life coming. His former partner Shakira released a bombshell of a track with Argentinian star Bizarrap. The new well-known and highly controversial song had clever shots by Shakira for Pique and his now girlfriend Clara Chia Marti.

The diss track saga added fuel to the fire of Pique’s tumultuous life

Pique must have been celebrating the permit he got for his $20 million project and was definitely busy with the Kings League. Meanwhile, Shakira was busy brewing a track that would bring a new phase in this breakup saga. Shakira compared herself with Ferrari and Rolex and called out Pique for replacing her with Twingo and Casio.
