However, Lionel Messi, in the recently released Netflix documentary, has revealed an emotional confession while he walked past the trophy. Talking about his feelings before the final against France, he said,” They say you can’t touch it or look at or anything. I could see it shining and the trophy was calling out to me. It’s very hard to explain how you feel at that moment. All the energy everyone is so excited.”

La Pulga wanted Argentina’s soccer icon to present him with the trophy

After the World Cup win, every staff member and player of the Argentinian team was enjoying the World Cup. Amidst the happiness, Lionel Messi did not forget to give tribute to his hero, Diego Maradona, who passed away in 2020. In an interview, the 36-year-old revealed that he would have loved the former World Cup-winning captain to present the trophy to him.

Lionel Messi also revealed that Maradona, while he was alive, wanted the national team to lift the trophy. He also mentioned how the legendary Argentine watched them from above and encouraged the team to glory.
