While many are already missing Alex Morgan on the pitch, she’s already transitioned into the next stage of her life. The athlete from California recently revealed her intentions to keep serving the sporting world despite hanging her boots. However, it’s not through coaching but through entrepreneurship. As a passionate businesswoman, she has already displayed her diversity of work through ventures like Togethxr and the Alex Morgan Foundation. This time, she will collaborate with Megan Rapinoe and a hoops core for a unique project called ‘Unrivaled.’
Initially, Megan Rapinoe dropped the news that she was one of the investors in the upcoming basketball league. Subsequently, Alex Morgan, revealing her undertaking, said, “I’m so excited about Unrivaled and so thrilled that you are part of it with us!” The 3-player per team league is arriving next year, and it will be played during the off-season. This was to suggest that the WNBA players need not go abroad to fill the long break, which used to then become a potential hindrance in their marketability.
Revealing more about her role, Alex Morgan stated on A Touch More, “We got a chunk of the allocation from the round that Unrivaled was raising to get funding for this league and we got a chunk of that. And we’re so happy we brought you in P (Rapinoe), we brought in a lot of other athletes as well and some other big names in the VC World, and that is all brought under Trybe, which is our family office Trybe Ventures.”

Unrivaled is expected to tip off in January 2025. And just like the TST and TBT, the Miami-based tournament is not expected to interfere with the main season. Reported to have the best of the 30 hoopers across 6 teams, the competition will be held on a 70-by-50-foot compact court, adding a more competitive edge to a 3×3 tournament. In addition, talks suggested that all the current WNBA All-Stars are also expected to be a part of it. Hence, the ex-San Diego Wave veteran was impressed by the whole idea.

Alex Morgan goes a mile extra to promote ‘Unrivaled’
Alex Morgan continues her good work in women’s sports, and this could potentially be her game-changing spell outside of soccer. Co-founded by Olympic Gold medalists Breanna Stewart and Napheesa Collier, the innovative league has already gained a lot of demand from investors. But to the 35-year-old’s fortune, she received the opportunity firsthand through Trybe, arranging for a few more investors to come on board. Joining the soccer duo is veteran golfer Michelle Wie West and hoops legend Steve Nash.

With enough investors and funding, Unrivaled could take the sporting world by storm. Kahleah Copper, Rhyne Howard, Kelsey Plum, Jewell Loyd, Arike Ogunbowale, and Chelsea Gray are a few names on the team sheets, alongside Napheesa Collier and Breanna Stewart.
