“With Gerard [Pique] I’d Have 20 Children” – Shakira Wanted to Have a Large Family With Ex-Boyfriend Given the ‘Luxury’ Back in 2014

Shakira once said how many children she would like to have with Gerard Pique. It was in her interview in 2014 the Colombian shared her views with Spanish media Europa Press. She was expecting her second son, Sasha, at the time of the interview.

The time has fled since, and the couple separated last year in June amid cheating speculations of the soccer star. It has been a few tough months for the Latin singer since the breakup. Her father is ill, and the Spanish Authorities also accused her of tax fraud committed from 2012 to 2014.

Shakira gave an interview in 2014 and spoke on various aspects of the pregnancy. She was pregnant during the interview. The Hips Don’t Lie singer said, “Now that I’m pregnant, I’m trying, for the first time in my life, to not do so many things at the same time. Although it’s always difficult and issues get in the way even when you don’t want them to, but the majority of the time I do dedicate myself to taking care of my belly, my pregnancy, and Milan.”

“With Gerard, I’d have 20 children, but I don’t think I’ll have the luxury to do it. For now, we’re going for the second one. We’ll see what happens. We’ll see if one day we get a girl. We’ll see,” Shakira further added.

The Waka Waka singer always wanted to keep working and was looking to get back to work immediately after the pregnancy. Her relationship with Pique started during the shoot of the 2010 FIFA World Cup anthem, and the couple made it official in 2011. Their first son, Milan, was born in January 2013, and their second son, Sasha, in January 2015. 

However, after 11 years of relationship, the couple separated last year. Pique was cheating on Shakira with his new girlfriend, Clara Chia. The saga started over a jar of strawberry jam to the singer hiring private detectives to catch Pique cheating.

Shakira once returned from her US tour and found the strawberry jam jar half filled. It sparked doubts in her mind as Pique and her children disliked the flavor. Before going for the next US tour, three times Grammy winner hired private detectives to keep a watch on former Barcelona defender.

After the confirmation of Pique’s cheating, Shakira asked him to visit the counselor for the couple’s counseling. The former Spanish defender refused it, and their relationship got strained, resulting in a separation.
