Soccer has a vast community, and with a sizeable community comes a lot of misinformation. The involved parties sorted one such piece of information yesterday. For days, it was rumored that Liverpool might go under sale. This isn’t the first time multiple reports turned about to be not true.

The owner John W. Henry has himself issued a big statement regarding this. The club is also minority-owned by LeBron James. Fans were very concerned about these shares of the club. He owns 2% of Liverpool FC, which amounts to around 200 million USD.

LeBron James got Liverpool’s 2% stake in a deal where he didn’t spend a single penny. According to their deal, LeBron will get a 2% stake in the club in exchange for him being available for marketing and events for Liverpool. He can also act as their agent and got a commission. This looks like a deal LeBron James wouldn’t mind, given that the value of his shares raised exponentially.

The soccer club is not for sale

Amid all the rumors or what seemed to be true reports, the Liverpool owner himself has cleared all the air around Liverpool going on sale. He did make it clear that they are looking for investors, but the club is not going up on the market.

He said, “I know there have been a lot of conversation and quotes about LFC (Liverpool Football Club), but I keep to the facts: we merely formalized an ongoing process. Will we be in England forever? No. Are we selling LFC? No. Are talking with investors about LFC? Yes. Will something happen there? I believe so, but it won’t be a sale. Have we sold anything in the past 20+ years?”
