Manchester United is fighting a battle with the club facing various issues. But the club is having some glorious moments, bringing the team back to winning ways. After a poor start to the season, the team is slowly rising on the table. Thanks to Alejandro Garnacho’s incredible goal, the team was able to secure their last win. Despite getting tremendous acclaim, one former Barcelona player took a dig at the player for celebrating like Cristiano Ronaldo.

Fans consider the 19-year-old to be one of the rising stars in soccer. Even though Garnacho was born in Madrid, the player plays for the Argentinian national team, as his mother is from Argentina. However, he has preferred to idolize Cristiano Ronaldo, which got him criticism despite a remarkable performance.

The Argentinian international is still looking for a consistent goal-scoring run of form with the Red Devils. Rated very highly, his recent goal versus Everton could be the turning point the player is looking for. Garnacho scored a howitzer against the Toffees, leading him to celebrate like his idol, Cristiano Ronaldo. However, the celebration was criticized by Chilean player Arturo Vidal, who questioned why he needed that celebration.

Vidal said, “The only bad thing, or what I didn’t understand, is why he celebrates like Cristiano?” “He has to make his own name. He is already a great player. It’s good that he is his idol; respect for that, but then he has to make his name.”

Garnacho scored an overhead kick similar to Ronaldo’s goal against Juventus in the 2018 UEFA Champions League. The player then dropped ‘SIUUU’, Ronaldo’s standard celebration. However, Vidal asked Garnacho to have his own identity in spite of idolizing Cristiano Ronaldo.

It is not the first time a player paid tribute to Ronaldo by mimicking the SIU celebration. A few Real Madrid players, like Rodrygo and Vinicius Jr., also recreated his iconic celebration earlier. And regarding his comparison to Ronaldo, coach Erik Ten Hag denied it by saying he has a long way to go.

Vidal appreciated the player despite the celebration

The Chilean, however, said that the player is already proving himself and that even having Ronaldo as an idol is okay. The 36-year-old also explicitly stated that the goal was magnificent, but he required his own celebration.

Therefore, Garnacho could probably work on his celebrations when he scores another goal. The player said that the crowd encouraged him and went for it, claiming it to be his best goal in his career. Do you think it is?
