After last night’s match, it is safe to say that Al Nassr bucked the trend. Thanks to Cristiano Ronaldo‘s opener, and Otavio and Anderson Talisca’s goals, Al Nassr smashed Al Riyadh 4-1. This stunning win comes after a shocking early defeat to Al Hilal, and an underwhelming draw against Istiklol. But have all the woes of Al Nassr disappeared after this win? The Riyadh-based side, despite boasting a star-packed line up still struggles to draw a large crowd to the stands.
When stars like Cristiano Ronaldo play, the world comes to watch. We have seen a packed Old Trafford and Santiago Bernabeu go mad when CR7 delivers. Al Awwal Park, however, offers a different scene, and fans on the internet are unhappy about it.

Saudi Pro League clubs have shaken the transfer market by signing the best of the best. Albeit these star signings, most Saudi League matches are played with very few attendees in the stands. An Al Riyadh- Al Okhdood game even registered a mere 133 people in the stands. Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al Nassr is also struggling in the same boat. The club is reportedly averaging 20,615 viewers. This is lower than the average attendance of English League One clubs Derby County and Bolton Wanderers.
It is quite surprising to note that this is happening to the Cristiano Ronaldos and Sadio Manes of the world who used to deliver in stadiums filled with more than 80,000 people. Now, Al Nassr’s recent matchup against Al Riyadh drew 17,047 people to the stands, leaving a large portion of the stadium empty. Netizens took note of the terribly low attendance when the X handle ‘Al Nassr Zone’ shared a snippet of Otavio’s goal. Seeing the largely vacant stadium, an X user replied to the tweet, “Why are the seats empty???”
